| Lyrics: |
Why must you be what she wants you to be, Doesn't she like what she sees. I saw you pass, couldn't you think what to say? Isn't she talking today? A girl once cried to see her lover change, From a man to a child. She must have hoped and prayed he'd survive, For a bitter reward. But now that you're near to me, Now that you're dear to me, Now that I hide, When I should be searching for you. Weren't you the one, Who put your faith in belief? Tell me what's wrong and right, I need to believe tonight. I can tell you things in written words, If I'm alone and it gets late. Tomorrow brings a new innocence, But I just can't sleep tonight. I could destroy everything that I've loved, With a stroke of my hand, I must understand this fear of myself, I must understand. Now that you're dear to me, Now that you're near to me, Now that I hide, When I should be searching for you. Weren't you the one, Who put your faith in belief? Tell me what's wrong and right, I need to believe tonight. I could tell you things in written words, If I'm alone and it gets late. Tomorrow brings a new innocence, But I'm not that brave tonight. |
| Miscellany: | This edited version was prepared for the Phil Roberts show on MFM, Wrexham in 1988. You can hear Huw 'Bobbly Dazzler' Jones clearly on this one asking "Is it after this one?" before coming in with his melodica part. In all fairness to the lad, we had only run through it about 25 times so we couldn't really have expected him to know the tune all that well! |
